Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is it important to clean and disinfect my soft contact lenses?
Bacteria and fungi can accumulate on contact lenses during wear. Proper disinfection is crucial to ridding microbes from your contact lenses
    and maintaining eye health.
  • Can I switch from my current contact lens care regimen to renu solutions?
Both renu fresh and renu sensitive are suitable for all soft contact lenses included silicone hydrogels. However, we recommend consulting
with your Eye Care Professional prior to using any new product(s) with your soft contact lenses.
  • Can I use renu solutions directly in my eye to rewet my contact lenses?
No. Renu multi-purpose solution is not approved for direct in the eye use. We cannot recommend using a product for other than its intended
purpose. However we recommend soothing your eyes with Renu MultiPlus® Lubricating and Rewetting Drops. They lubricate and rewet soft
    contact lenses for greater comfort.
  • Is it okay to go swimming whilst wearing my contact lenses?
You risk losing your lenses and the chlorine in swimming pools can irritate your eyes. Also there may be an increased risk of infection. Some
people recommend the use of goggles for competitive swimming. Talk to your Eye Care Professional about this.
  • Is it safe to sleep in my contact lenses?
Only continuous wear lenses like Bausch & Lomb PureVision are designed for sleeping in because they are specially designed to let natural
levels of oxygen through to your eyes. Do not sleep in your contact lenses unless your Eye Care Professional has indicated that it is safe to
    do so.
  • Is it possible to lose my lenses in my eye?
Don't worry – lenses cannot get behind your eye. If they do slip, you may need someone to look at your eye and guide you to get them back
in place, but this will not harm your eyes.

  • My vision is blurry and doesn't clear after repeated blinking.
Several factors could be to blame - the lenses could be switched resulting in the wrong power in each eye. Remove, then rinse them with
renu multi-purpose solution and put them in opposite eyes. Perhaps the lenses could be inside out. Remove your lenses, rinse in renu
multi-purpose solution and ensure that the lenses are the right way out before inserting back into your eye. Thirdly, it could be due to the
heavy build-up of protein on the lens. The lenses should be cleaned with daily cleaner followed by treatment with protein removal tablets as
directed. If your vision is still blurred after this treatment, consult your Eye Care Professional.
  • My lens feel uncomfortable, and tends not to stay put in the centre of my eye, vision is also slightly blurred.
The lens could be inside out. Remove your lenses, rinse in renu multi-purpose solution and ensure that the lenses are the right way out
before inserting back into your eye.
  • Can I use cosmetics while I wear my lenses?
There's no reason why you can't use cosmetics and wear contact lenses. Just ensure you always apply cosmetics after inserting your
lenses. Cleanse your face of make-up before removing them – this limits the amount of make-up that will come into contact with your lenses.
Use the softest eye pencils you can find to avoid any flaking which could get the product into your eye and cause irritation. Do not use
waterproof mascara and avoid loose powders. Go for pressed eye shadow. Do not use aerosols such as hairspray, perfume, aftershave or
deodorant whist wearing your lenses. If you do use an aerosol make sure you apply before you insert your lenses. Never share cosmetics or
applicator brushes. Ideally aim to replace all your cosmetics and brushes every 3 months. Never attempt to apply makeup on the move, for
example when travelling in a car, train or bus. If your eyes are red, swollen or you think that they might be infected, stop wearing cosmetics
and your lenses straight away and contact your Eye Care Professional.
