Imperfect Vision

If you suffer from blurred vision, one or more of the following four conditions could be responsible.

  • myopia
Shortsightedness or myopiaFor a shortsighted person, close objects are clear, but distant objects are blurred and difficult to distinguish.
  • hyperopia
    Longsightedness or hyperopia
Technically known as hyperopia. People who are longsighted have blurred vision at all distances unless they make a constant effort to focus.
  • presbiopia
PresbyopiaA natural occurrence in which the eye can no longer tightly focus on objects up close. It commonly develops in people around age 40.
  • astigmatism
    AstigmatismFor people with astigmatism,
all objects both near and far are distorted. Images are blurred because some of the light rays are focused and others are not.
